Newman is very proud of our talented and generous music ministry. If you’re interested in singing or playing in one of our outstanding choirs (Sunday at 10am, 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm) please contact our Music Coordinator, Michael Lam, to get started.

Music Ministry Groups
Newman has four music ministry groups, one for each Mass. Below is more information on each music ministry group.
10am Music - New Dawn Choir
The 10am ministry (New Dawn Choir) is led by Matthew McGehee. Contact Matt if you are interested in singing or playing an instrument for the 10am group.
5pm Music
The 5pm ministry is led by Orlando Morales. Contact Orlando if you are interested in singing or playing an instrument for the 5pm group.
7pm Music - Sundays at Seven
The 7pm ministry (Sundays at Seven) is led by Lan VoBa. The recruitment coordinator is Peter Chi. Send Peter an e-mail or talk to him after Mass if you are interested in singing or playing an instrument.
The group also maintains a blog that is regularly updated.
9pm Music - Candlelight Choir
The 9pm ministry is led by Michael Lam. Send Michael an e-mail or talk to him after Mass if you are interested in singing or playing an instrument.
The group rehearses on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm and on Sundays at 8pm (one hour before Mass), both in the Siena Room.
The 9pm Mass features a prayerful, contemplative candle-lit aesthetic. The group sings primarily Taize, chant, motets and and traditional Breaking Bread songs.
Music Ministry Retreat
Every year during Spring Quarter, the music ministry puts on a retreat for all ministers and any members of the community who want to retreat with music and song! It is a faith-filled weekend of prayer, praise and workshops that brings us both closer to our God and closer as a community. For more information, please contact Peter Chi.
